Pool composition and venues set for CEV Continental Cup fourth round
2014-2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup - Men & Women

Luxembourg, June 30, 2015. The 2014-2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will resume in early September with its fourth – and next-to-last – round. A total of four double-gender tournaments will be organised on the two first weekends of September with their respective winners and runners-up qualifying for the final stage of the competition scheduled for 2016 where they will join the eight teams that topped the standings of the Round 3 events held in early May. The race for making the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro is heating up and therefore the fourth round of the Continental Cup is expected to deliver some classy matches as some of Europe’s Beach Volleyball powers will be fighting to stay alive in the competition.

The teams were drawn across four pools taking into account their ranking from the respective third round tournaments as well as by avoiding that teams that performed in the same third round pool will be crossing their ways again in Round 4.

The composition, the venues and the dates of the four fourth round tournaments read as follows:

Pool A in Vilnius (LTU), September 5-6
Men: Austria, France, Lithuania, Finland
Women: Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovenia, Belgium

Pool B in Sochi (RUS), September 4-5
Men: Russia, Latvia, Belarus, Slovakia
Women: France, Sweden, Latvia, England

Pool C in Thessaloniki (GRE), September 5-6
Men: Greece, Switzerland, Ukraine, England
Women: Greece, Finland, Scotland, Azerbaijan

Pool D in Tel Aviv (ISR), September 11-12
Men: Israel, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Belgium
Women: Norway, Poland, Israel, Slovakia

All Round 4 tournaments will be played according to the same ‘country vs country’ format already used in the previous stages of the Continental Cup which has drawn positive reviews from players, coaches and fans alike.

The CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup is stopping once more in the cities of Vilnius and Thessaloniki after Lithuania’s capital and Greece’s second largest city had played host to two of the eight third round tournaments organised in early May. An international Beach Volleyball event is returning to Sochi, the venue of the 2014 Winter Olympics, for the first time since the 2009 edition of the CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Final was held there on the shores of the Black Sea whilst Tel Aviv will embrace the Continental Cup after Israel’s largest city hosted the 2011 edition of the CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championships.
