Latvia’s Beach Volleyball stars Samoilovs and Smedins supervise group training sessions on Majori beach
2015 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship - Jurmala Masters

Jurmala, Latvia, May 19, 2015. Latvia’s Beach Volleyball stars and two-time European silver medallists Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins supervised on Tuesday the first group training session organised on Majori beach in Jurmala where the inaugural Jurmala Masters – first stop of this year’s CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship – will get underway on Wednesday. The competition will run from May 20 through 24 and for the first three days the organisers have announced that entrance to the venue – including the majestic centre court – will be available for free for everyone.

The Jurmala Masters is not just about an elite Beach Volleyball competition, as there is much more going on there right by the Baltic Sea. The fans will be able to attend also the players’ party which is scheduled for Saturday night and many more activities have been organised for the kids. On Wednesday, May 20, a group training session open to children and adults will take place on Majori beach and will be run by professional Beach Volleyball players. Participation is available for free prior registration.

The players’ party is scheduled for Saturday night, May 23, and everyone will be able to attend it for free, thus enjoying the opportunity to mingle with some of the world’s best players, getting their autographs and taking selfies. On Saturday Jurmala will also host the festival for the official opening of the summer season in Latvia’s most popular seaside and holiday resort; the festival includes an extensive cultural and entertainment programme that will please Beach Volleyball fans and all other visitors.

Latvia’s Beach Volleyball hero Aleksandrs Samoilovs, who is a native of Jurmala, says: “I invite everyone to attend the Jurmala Masters. It will be an opportunity to have a great time with friends or family by the sea in a positive atmosphere, enjoying an athletic show!”

The invitation to attend the tournament is extended not only to Beach Volleyball fans, but also to those who have never been to a Beach Volleyball competition before – the organisers have provided various forms of entertainment. There will be sponsor contests and events, as well as various activities for children. The crowd will be encouraged to participate in various dances and motions to cheer the players on.

As previously reported, the Jurmala Masters will take place from May 20 to 24 at the Baltic Beach Hotel & SPA beach stadium in Jurmala, Latvia, gathering a good share of Europe’s Beach Volleyball elite. The Jurmala Masters is the largest and most important Beach Volleyball competition ever held in one of the Baltic countries.
