Continental Cup to resume in early May, CEV releases Terms & Conditions for 3rd Round organisers
2014-2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup
Luxembourg, January 20, 2015. The 2014-2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will resume in early May with eight double-gender tournaments on schedule for the 3rd Round of the competition whereby Beach Volleyball teams stand an additional chance to qualify to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. As many as 32 National Federations per gender are set to compete in early May, including the top eight from the CEV Country Ranking that by-passed the 1st and 2nd Rounds held last year.
The CEV released on Monday all Terms & Conditions for organisers of the 3rd Round events coming up in May. All applications are to be submitted by February 10, 2015 at the very latest. Once the organisers are known, a Drawing of Lots will follow to allocate the 32 participating teams across the eight Pools. The CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will continue with the same format, i.e. ‘country vs. country’, that has drawn positive reviews from players, coaches and media alike.
The eventual winners of the 3rd Round tournaments will move on straight to the Finals scheduled for next year whilst all other teams will get an extra chance to continue chasing their Olympic dream via the 4th Round scheduled for mid-August/September 2015.
The 2014-2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup set records right from its start since as many as 44 National Federations registered to join the actions, thereby contributing to further grow Beach Volleyball across Europe and especially in countries where this sport is not yet in the spotlight as it deserves to be.
