Fethiye, Turkey, August 22, 2014.  The Turkish Mediterranean Coast city of Fethiye has been confirmed as the venue for the 2014 CEV U22 Beach Volleyball European Championship.

The last event on the 2014 CEV beach volleyball calendar, scheduled for September 18 through 21, which was initially planned to be held in Antalya, will instead be turned into the international inauguration of the second beach volleyball center of the Turkish Volleyball Federation.

“We are continuing our efforts to develop beach volleyball all around Turkey,” says Oguz Degirmenci, Tournament Director and Manager of Beach Volleyball at the Turkish Volleyball Federation.  “For this purpose, Fethiye will host the second beach volleyball center of Turkey after the first one was set up at the Mediterranean University campus in Antalya and was officially unveiled with the CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup Final back in May.  This new center will help the development of the Turkish beach volleyball national teams as well as serve foreign teams for their camps with the 10 courts to be installed.  We are very proud to create this new beach volleyball center, whose bleacher will have a 1000-seat capacity to start with.”

Fethiye is a city of about 70 thousand inhabitants and a well-known travel destination, situated on the southwestern coast of Turkey, not very far from Antalya.  It will become the meeting point of Europe’s best U22 teams in both genders, as 32 men’s and 32 women’s duos, vying for continental honors, will take part in the main draw of the 2014 CEV U22 Beach Volleyball European Championship.  They will be split into eight pools per gender with the best three pairs from each pool moving on to the 24-team single elimination rounds.
