Belgrade, Serbia, June 18, 2014. The women's and the men's beach volleyball national teams of Serbia will play in Pool G of the 1st Round of at the 2014-2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup. Serbia is in the company of Albania, Finland and host Bulgaria for the match-ups in Kardzhali on June 21 and 22. In the women’s competition, Serbia will be represented by the pairs Milena Matic / Isidora Egic and Katarina Raicevic / Natasha Savovic, with their coach Marko Stojanovic. In the men's competition, Sinisa Antonic / Marko Galesev and Stefan Basta / Miljan Kikovic will appear for Serbia, along with their coach Bojan Dimitrijevic.
The Serbian teams prepared for the competition during this year’s Vip Beach Masters tour, which is the Serbian national championship in beach volleyball. Until the present day, three tournaments out of the twelve scheduled for this year were played in the cities of Novi Pazar, Uzice and Krusevac.
Antonic / Galesev (pictured) emerged as winners from all three events so far. They also participated in the FIVB World Tour Shanghai Grand Slam tournament and the Fuzhou Open in China, as well as the 2014 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Baden Masters. They are the 2012 and 2013 Serbian national champions and 2013 Balkan champions and have also participated at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin in 2013.
Basta / Kikovic is a new partnership playing together for the first time this year. They won the third place at the 2014 Vip Beach Masters tournament in Krusevac. Miljan Kikovic won bronze at the 2013 Balkan Championship with Marko Nikolic. Stefan Basta won sixth place at the 2013 Mediterranean Games in Mersin. He was also the winner of the final tournament of the 2013 Vip Beach Masters in Belgrade, and won seventh place at the 2012 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Novi Sad Masters.
Matic / Egic are also playing together for the first time this year. In Uzice and Krusevac they won two out of the three tournaments in the 2014 Vip Beach Masters so far. Isidora participated at the 2013 Mediterranean Games in Mersin, and she was the winner of the final tournament of the 2012 Vip Beach Masters in Belgrade and became national champion back in the same year.
Raicevic / Savovic participated in the 2013 BVA U22 Balkan Championship and won sixth place. This year in the 2014 Vip Beach Masters they won bronze at the tournament in Novi Pazar and fourth place at the tournament in Krusevac.
