Beach Volleyball Final reaches global audience, deals with Asian TVs announced
2014 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship - Final
Cagliari, Italy, June 7, 2014. The 2014 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship – Final is reaching this weekend its real climax at the end of a week blessed with sun and excellent weather conditions on the white sand of Poetto beach, just nearby Cagliari. After 11 TV stations had already announced their plans to broadcast matches of the men’s and women’s tournaments, the icing on the cake followed on Saturday after CEV partner Infront Sports & Media informed that another four deals were just reached to air footage of the Championship also in some Asian countries.

Astro, True Vision, Starhub and AVG will all broadcast the women’s and men’s semi-final and final matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Malaysia & Brunei, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam respectively. This way the CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship – Final reaches an extra-European audience for the very first time since its inception back in 1993.
“These are excellent news,” CEV President André Meyer says. “We knew that our partner was working on some more deals and that the negotiations with Asian televisions were ongoing. We already were able to reach an agreement to broadcast matches of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League in Asia for the last couple of years, and now these deals additionally cement our strong positioning and leading role on the international Volleyball scene. I am pleased with the work done by our partner Infront Sports & Media as it strengthens our brand right by the time we just announced a three-year partnership with smart that will be at our side all the way through to the 2016 edition of the European Championship in Biel/Bienne,” he adds.
