Estonian youngsters ready to embark on Continental Cup adventure
CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup - Zonal Phase

Pärnu, Estonia, July 8, 2013. The inaugural CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup is set to stop this coming weekend in Pärnu, Estonia, for the second out of eight tournaments scheduled for the Zonal Phase to be completed later this year before the finals coming up n May 2014. The event will determine the teams composing the European contingent for the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. The city of Pärnu will host Pool E where the hosts of Estonia will play young players from Poland, Lithuania and Hungary in a double-gender event.
Pärnu is a perfect location for the Continental Cup for the city boasts a 1 km long beach and is the most popular seaside resort in Estonia among residents as well as foreign tourists.
The teams representing the host country were determined after completion of the second stage of the youth national tour. As they won the competition held last weekend in Tartu, Liisa Soomets and Heleene Hollas together with Karli Allik and Raul Kartsep (see picture, they are the two in the middle) got the right to represent Estonia this coming weekend in Pärnu. Soomets and Hollas are coached by former Beach Volleyball star Kristjan Kais while Hendrik Rikand is the mentor of the male pair. “It is very hard to predict the outcome of this competition and the teams that will make it to the final round because we still do not know much about the other nations and their line-ups. However, I still expect Estonia to take one of the two spots available for the finals. I look forward to this competition because our teams are in good shape” Kais commented.
Besides the Youth Continental Cup, Pärnu will host this weekend also the Estonia Open, the third stop of this year’s EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour with valuable FIVB Ranking Points at stake for the participating teams.
