Countdown has started for third edition of Novi Sad Masters
2013 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship - Novi Sad Masters

Novi Sad, Serbia, July 8, 2013. The CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship will stop for the third consecutive year in Novi Sad where a Masters is scheduled for this coming July 16-20 together with one – out of eight – tournament for the Zonal Phase of the inaugural CEV Beach Volleyball Youth Continental Cup. Teams from 28 countries are set to participate in the Novi Sad Masters there on the banks of the Danube River where 25,000 € prize money and valuable FIVB Ranking Points will be at stake.
So far teams from Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, and Ukraine plus – evidently – Serbia have announced their intention to play in Novi Sad. Last year’s winners Thomas Kaczmarek and Alexander Walkenhorst of Germany will return to Strand beach though starring with different partners, namely Max Betzien and Lars Flüggen respectively. The host country will be represented by four duos, i.e. Sinisa Antonic/Marko Galesev, Nenad Simeunovic/Nenad Tatic, Igor Tesic/Marko Nikolic, and Sasa Surla/Djordje Klasnic.

Next to the Novi Sad Masters, the Volleyball Federation of Serbia and its general sponsor Vip mobile will welcome the players representing Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Malta and Serbia – aged from 14 to 17 – who debut on the international scene as via the inaugural CEV Beach Volleyball Youth Continental Cup they try to claim a spot to represent Europe at next year’s Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. Their tournament will be also held at Strand beach on July 19-20 and surely attract the attention of fans and media alike.   

Serbia’s Volleyball legend and 2000 Olympic champion Vladimir Grbic – currently a Vice-President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, member of the FIVB Development Commission and a 2011 inductee into the Volleyball Hall of Fame – will once more chair special classes for children under 14 years of age so as to make sure they get to learn the ABC of the sport. Via the program known as Vip Beach Masters Volleyball School more than 3,000 kids all over the country have so far enjoyed the opportunity to discover Beach Volleyball and its unique atmosphere.

The entrance to the stadium will be free of charge and the organizers have planned many contests accompanied by live music to entertain the always massive crowds getting together there at Strand beach.
