Swiss teams shine in Lausanne
2013 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Lausanne

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 28, 2013. On the second day of the CEV Satellite tournament in Lausanne the Swiss pairs continued to impress. Even though they had been training together only for a few hours, Sébastien Chevallier and Rafael Bissig did progress to the next round of the competition without losing any match. Chevallier was due to compete with Mats Kovatsch but he pulled out after suffering an injury. On Saturday Chevallier and Bissig will play Germany’s Alexander Walkenhorst – winner of this tournament in 2011 – and Lars Flüggen.
The organizers were happy to see also Mirco Gerson and Alexei Prawdzic make it to the 1/4 finals. “The performance delivered by the Swiss teams today confirms the good level of our Beach Volleyball school” comments Georges-André Carrel, founder of the tournament and the head coach of the Lausanne University Club.
Saturday will feature another interesting match starring the Czechs Robert Kufa and Jan Hadrava – winners of the CEV Satellite in Montpellier – and Norway’s Morten Kvamsdal and Oivind Hordvik.
As a result of bad weather forecasts, the amateur tournament scheduled for Saturday next to Bellerive swimming pool has been postponed to next July 5.
