27/05/2012 18:30 Austrian heroes celebrate home triumph in Baden CEV Beach Volleyball Challenger and Satellites Baden, Austria, May 27, 2012. Austria’s home heroes Clemens Doppler/Alexander Horst finished atop of the standings of the CEV Satellite in Baden as they defeated Greece’s George Kotsilianos/Nikos Zoupanis in the final match played on Sunday afternoon there in the outskirts of Vienna. Doppler/Horst had qualified for the final act of the CEV Satellite in Baden after a very straight semifinal with their compatriots Thomas Kunert and Lorenz Petutschnig. Clemens and Alex had seized the opening set quite comfortably (21-15) and the course of the game did not change in set two where Doppler/Horst stamped a speedy a 21-8 to cruise to the final and play there against the Greek duo Kotsilianos/Zoupanis who had claimed their pass for the final as they defeated the Austrian guys Xandi Huber and Robin Seidl (21-14, 21-15) in the other semi. The final game was played in front of a great audience and with perfect weather conditions, with splendid and long rallies accompanied by the enthusiasm of quite many Beach Volleyball fans. The newly formed team Doppler/Horst quickly got the upper hand against the Greeks and claimed the last act of the tournament in two straight sets (21-14, 21-13). In the bronze medal match, the Austrians Kunert/Petutschnig opened the game winning a close first set over their compatriots Huber/Seidl (21-19). The fight got even more tension in set two as Austria’s national champions Huber/Seidl could exploit a set ball to draw the count at 1:1 (18-21), before they stretched that good tempo also to the tie-break where they powered past their friends with the score of 15-10 to clinch the bronze medal.
