Swiss stars Heuscher and Bellaguarda join starting field of CEV Satellite in Lausanne
CEV Beach Volleyball Challenger and Satellites

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 16, 2012. Switzerland’s best duo, Patrick Heuscher and Jefferson Bellaguarda, have confirmed their intention to join the starting field of the CEV Satellite tournament that will run through June 28-July 1 in Lausanne. Heuscher – bronze medalist from the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens – and his Brazilian-born partner Bellaguarda are currently Switzerland’s top pair in the FIVB rankings – they are in fifth place there – and last year finished fourth at the European Championship Final in Kristiansand, Norway.
With their inclusion in the starting field the hosting country will have a good shot at the top position of the podium, with the last Swiss win in Lausanne dating back to 2009 as Jefferson Bellaguarda played alongside Martin Laciga. Heuscher/Bellaguarda are very much likely – as per the current standings – to compete at the 2012 Olympics and the CEV Satellite in Lausanne will be a unique opportunity to finalize their preparations for London.
Patrick Heuscher already topped the charts of the Satellite tournament in Lausanne in 2000, 2003 and 2005 with different partners and will be going for his fourth title after a very good 2011 season that included a second and third place at the Grand Slams held in Moscow and Beijing.
Some more high-class players shall sign in for the 2012 CEV Satellite in Lausanne after the cancellation of the FIVB Grand Slam foreseen in Stavanger – likely to run on these same days – was announced some weeks ago.
