Austria's Beach Volleyball elite to get together in Baden
2012 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship
Baden, Austria, April 9, 2012. Austria can barely wait for summer to come and also for a major highlight of this year’s Beach Volleyball campaign, i.e. the CEV Masters and Satellite tournament presented by Sportland.NÖ & Autohaus Bierbaum that will run through May 23-27 in Baden. After playing host to some more national and international events in the past years – including the 2009 Austrian Masters, the 2010 MEVZA Beach Volleyball Champs and last year’s CEV Satellite – the local promoters of VISION05 have set up the conditions for another classy competition with the women’s Masters basically starting off the international season in Europe with 25’000 € at stake while the men’s Satellite will distribute a total of 7’500 € in prize money.
Austria’s Beach Volleyball fans will surely enjoy five days packed with classy actions, fun and sun there at “Strandbad”, a location that has gradually turned into one of Austria’s Beach Volleyball “Meccas”. “It was not that easy but we are finalizing our negotiations and this edition will be offering high-class Beach Volleyball as people are used to here in Baden” stress the CEOs of VISION05, Dominik Gschiegl and Nicolas Hold.
All of Austria’s top stars will be in attendance, including 2011 European silver medalists Barbara Hansel and Sara Montagnolli, while Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst – who have teamed up for the 2012 season after competing with different partners in the past – are set to highlight the men’s tournament. Last year’s finalists and home heroes, i.e. Stefanie Schwaiger/Doris Schwaiger plus Xandi Huber/Robin Seidl, will be longing for more glory, while two up-and-coming pairs, Daniel Hupfer/Michael Leeb and Tommy Kunert/Lorenz Petutschnig, are also included in the starting field.
“The attendance of Austria’s Beach Volleyball top players confirms that our tournament has really established itself as a place to be” adds Hold, “while we expect some of Europe’s best duos will join the competition as well”.
