CEV women-only Satellite to take place in early September in Skopje
2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Skopje
Luxembourg, June 15, 2016. An international Beach Volleyball competition officially sanctioned by the CEV will be taking place in the capital city of the Former Y.R. of Macedonia, Skopje, for the second consecutive year. A CEV women-only Satellite event will be organised in Skopje on September 1-4 with a 16-team Main Draw plus a qualification round open to maximum 24 teams, and € 8,000 prize money at stake next to valuable FIVB ranking points.
Last year Skopje played host to a CEV men-only Satellite and the event scheduled for later this summer is due to take some of Europe’s up-and-coming teams to the Former Y.R. of Macedonia’s capital city for the first women’s event of that calibre to take place in the country.
Once again a stadium with a capacity of 800 seats will be set up at Skopje’s City Park right next to the shores of the Vardar River.
The organisation of the event is being supported by the Mayor of Skopje, Mr Koce Trajanovski, as well as by Macedonian Radio Television (MRT), the country’s public broadcasting company.
The event in Skopje brings the number of CEV Satellites in 2016 up to seven – three have already taken place in Ankara (TUR), Baden (AUT) and Vilnius (LTU); two women-only events will follow later this summer in Timisoara (ROU) and Kisakallio (FIN) while a double-gender tournament will be organised in Vaduz (LIE) from July 21 to 24.
