One week to go to CEV Baden Satellite
2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Baden
Baden, Austria, June 1, 2016. The scene of the annual Beach Volleyball tournament organised in Baden is incomparable on the European tour. The stars of the sport will dig, set and smash in the beautiful Strandbad where the CEV Satellite Baden presented by SPORT.LAND.NÖ will be taking place from June 8 to 12. The Austrian teams want to fight for a spot on the podium in both genders, but it will be a very tough feat to achieve.
200 players from 24 countries will fight for the medals in Baden. In the women’s tournament Swiss girls Nina Betschart and Tanja Hüberli lead the entry list, followed by Olga Motrich/Yulia Abalakina (RUS) and Rimke Braakman/Jolien Sinnema (NED). The best-seeded Austrian girls are Katharina Schützenhöfer and Lena Plesiutschnig, as the silver medallists from the Baku 2015 European Games enter the tournament as number four. Bianca Zass/Valerie Teufl and local heroines Nadine Strauss/Teresa Strauss, who have received a wild card, will be in the Main Draw as well.
As for the men’s tournament, the Austrian teams are among the top-favourites of the CEV Satellite Baden. The entry list is headed by the second best team of the host country, Alexander Huber and Robin Seidl. Thomas Kunert and Christoph Dressler are the third-seeded team in the Main Draw, just behind Polish youngsters Maciej Kosiak and Maciej Rudol. The Norwegian veterans Iver Andreas Horrem/Geir Eithun, who love to play in Baden, will be one of the title contenders too. Austrian youngsters Tobias Winter and Lorenz Petutschnig received a wild card and will start their campaign straight from the Main Draw too.
Tickets for the tournament are still available, just check the official website www.beachvolleyball-baden.at for more information. The organisers are looking forward to having as many international Beach Volleyball fans as possible in Baden to celebrate a big Beach Volleyball party next week!
