2014 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite Lausanne
Lausanne, Switzerland, June 29, 2014. Three matches, all won by 3:1 – this is the record so far of top-seeded Sebastian Chevallier / Alexei Strasser, the home favorites to win the men’s 2014 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite Lausanne, who are about to start their semifinal match on Sunday at noon.
You are qualified for the semifinals, how do you feel?
Chevallier: Very well! Three wins in three matches, we could not dream of better results. Furthermore, we were not too confident before coming here as we could not play to our level during the previous tournaments.
What is the key of your duo?
Chevallier: We both hate losing! Seriously, I think this attitude pushes us constantly further as we are very demanding of each other. It is not easy on a daily basis, but it allows us to do our best.
What is your objective during this tournament?
Chevallier: We want to win the tournament! We reached the semifinals so we think we are able to gain this final. What is more, we would be so happy to win here, at home, in front of our Swiss fans.
And for the rest of the season?
Chevallier: Now we would like to keep this game level and gain consistency to keep our confidence. If we keep playing like that we can challenge the best teams at the FIVB World Tour. We will also try to defend Alexei’s Swiss champion’s title.
Sebastian Chevallier / Alexei Strasser will lock horns with the U23 world champions Maciej Kosiak / Maciej Rudol from Poland in the first semifinal at 12:00 local time on center court at Place de la Navigation in Lausanne. In the other semifinal, starting one hour later, Germany’s Tim Holler / Jonas Schroeder will face Italy’s Matteo Cecchini / Matteo Martino. All Final Four matches will be streamed live on LAOLA1.tv.
