The future stars of European Beach Volleyball are ready to fight for gold
2013 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship
Vilnius, Lithuania, August, 7, 2013. The CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship is ready to start. The Technical Meeting officially opened the exciting competition that is being held in the Lithuanian city of Vilnius, as the best young teams in Europe prepare to clash for the continental crown.
The spectacular Credit24 Arena in Vilnius is about to host a magnificent event that will showcase 32 teams per gender with only one goal: to become European champions. All the contenders for the title gathered one last time before the opening of the tournament in a Technical Meeting which represented the official first step for all the competitors in their way to gold.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Lithuanian Federation for the hard work in the preparation of the event. I hope that all the players will enjoy the tournament and that everyone will leave Vilnius with good memories”, said CEV Jury President and CEV Vice President, Sinem Mavili. The best conditions for the sport are offered in Vilnius for this event which, as the local organizers acknowledge, represents a step forward in their intentions to hold the most important continental events, after being the venue of the 2011 CEV U18 European Championship. “I only want to say that I wish all the teams a good competition and that they enjoy their stay in our country”, said the president of the Lithuanian Volleyball Federation and tournament director, Marius Vasiliauskas. Meanwhile, CEV Technical Supervisor Henrique Gomes went through the key points of the competition and also informed about the results of the draw of the pool round, a phase that will present exciting confrontations among some of the favorites to the title.
The best Beach Volleyball players under 20 years in Europe have travelled to the Lithuanian capital with their bags full of expectations and with a clear desire to become the new stars of the sport. The room that held the Technical Meeting vibrated with anticipation, as the illusions and passion of the young athletes reached the highest levels in the hours before their long awaited debut in the competition. The players that will unveil their hopes of glory on the sand of Credit24 Arena in Vilnius face their most important event of the season, the opportunity to reach for history of the sport and a chance to jump towards Beach Volleyball stardom.
