Rok Možič balances between Volleyball and Beach Volleyball

Ljubljana, Slovenia, August 1, 2020. Slovenia’s youngster Rok Možič successfully combines Volleyball with Beach Volleyball, what he proved once again this weekend, reaching the Round of 12 at FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 1-Star tournament in Ljubljana.
It is not such a big surprise that Možič decided to pursue a Volleyball career since both of his parents were successful national team players: “I started playing because of my mom and dad. My dad also coached me for a while, when I played indoors and that was the main reason,” said Rok. However, Beach Volleyball captured his attention as well, with a court placed almost in their backyard. He used to be a ball retriever at a number of tournaments, looking up to Jasmin Čuturić and other Slovenian Beach Volleyball stars.
Despite his Volleyball roots, he used to be active in many other sports as well - football, basketball, karate, and even ski jumping: “It was a really interesting sport for me to watch on TV, so I decided that I would like to try. I have been practicing the sport for about six months but in the end, I realised that Volleyball is still the one,” revealed Možič.
The 18-year-old currently plays Volleyball in OK Maribor, while in Beach Volleyball he paired with Alan Košenina, his teammate form Maribor and partner on Ljubljana’s Beach Volleyball World Tour event.
Slovenia’s Volleyball wunderkind is the proudest when he competes in his national team’s jersey. His favourite moment was being a part of the team that participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifier held in Berlin in January, where in one match he delivered a very solid performance. However, speaking of Beach Volleyball, he is most proud of the silver medal he took at the CEV U18 European Championship in 2019 or the fifth place achieved at the FIVB U21 World Championship.
In his free time, when he is not playing Volleyball, he likes to sleep, watch series, play PlayStation, and he tries to spend as much time with his friends as possible. He also loves to travel, although it is mostly because of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. His last destination was Thailand, where he competed at the U21 World Championship.
He gets a lot of comparison with Slovenia’s basketball superstar, Luka Dončič: “I always said that I am honoured when people have that opinion about me, but I am far away from winning what he has achieved. I need to work hard to reach his level,” commented Slovenia’s youngster.
