1-Star event in Tel Aviv a major success, awakens appetite for more such events
2019 FIVB World Tour 1-Star - Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv, Israel, November 10, 2019. The very first, historic FIVB World Tour 1-Star event held earlier this week in Israel and more specifically at Frishman Beach in Tel Aviv was a major success, with some 9,000 people paying a visit to the competition that ran from Wednesday to Saturday. Moreover, live streaming of the medal matches was available on EuroVolleyTV and nationwide broadcasting as well secured through the regular partner of the Israel Volleyball Association (IVA), Sports Channel 5.
The IVA staff and many volunteers worked extremely hard in order to deliver such a premiere in Israel’s most populous city. The event captured the attention of more and more people as Israel’s home heroes Sean Faiga and Netanel Amiram Ohana reached the semis, lost a dramatic three-setter to their Danish opponents before they eventually had to withdraw from the bronze medal match.
The success of the event is testament to the work done by the Israel Volleyball Association, but it also shows the potential that Israel has as a country when it comes to hosting such competitions. The boulevard situated right next to the shore of the Mediterranean Sea naturally invites people to have a stroll and many, including VIPs, stopped by the venue of the 1-Star event.
Teams from Italy and Japan claimed the top honours from the tournament, as the 2019 CEV Beach Volleyball season ended on Saturday with the medal matches played in Tel Aviv. There is for sure appetite for more – the natural beach with quality sand is there, people are willing to work hard and cooperate with the appointed CEV officials and the atmosphere at the tournament was great too. Let’s hope this is only the first step in a long journey that will take Beach Volleyball to unprecedented heights in the ‘Holy Land’…
