Pinarella di Cervia, Italy, July 27, 2019. Despite hurricane conditions in Pinarella di Cervia, teams battled through to the delight of those who braved the weather, with only the semi-finals needing to be delayed until the following day. Strong winds and driving rain affected, but did not halt, “Beach Volley World Tour in Emilia Romagna presented by BPER”. Despite 85 km/h gales the local organising committee of Caponigri with PowerBeach and BeachVolleyUniversity ensured the show could go on completing all of the Quarter-Finals.
The pair of Grant Goldschmidt and Leo Williams (RSA), along with Florian Ertl and Johannes Kratz (AUT, pictured above), will be aiming to go from the qualifying round to the Gold Medal Match on Sunday morning after they both reached the Semi-Finals. They will find on their way the Russian teams of Maksim Hudyakov/Igor Velichko -who defeated Javier Bello/Joaquin Bello of England 2-0 (21-9, 21-17) - and Maxim Sivolap/Artem Yarzutkin, who won against the Czech side of Martin Sramek/Jakub Gala 2-0 (22-20 21-13) in the Quarter-Finals.
