Luxembourg, November 9, 2018. Austria, Sweden and Turkey will be hosting next year’s CEV U18, U20 and U22 Beach Volleyball European Championships, respectively. The cities of Baden, Göteborg and Antalya will provide the perfect stage for the rising stars of the sport to shine and to continue with their development after European youngsters made their mark in all major global competitions held in 2018. Sweden will deliver such an event for the first time in their history, while Baden and Antalya cement their role of primary destinations for Beach Volleyball players of all age categories.
#EuroBeachVolleyU18 – Baden (AUT), June 13-16, 2019
One of Europe’s Beach Volleyball favourite destinations, Baden will be hosting the 2019 edition of #EuroBeachVolleyU18 after earlier this year the CEV Youth Continental Cup Final took place at the iconic Strandbad as well. Baden has been the venue of major international Beach Volleyball competitions for 15 years and will surely deliver yet another memorable event where the youngest of Europe’s rising Beach Volleyball stars will be in the spotlight. Even though Austria are a Beach Volleyball powerhouse and all major international events in the sport have taken place in the alpine country, the tournament in Baden will coincide with the first-ever #EuroBeachVolleyU18 held on Austrian soil since the inaugural U18 event held in 2002 in Illichivsk, Ukraine.
#EuroBeachVolleyU20 – Göteborg (SWE), June 27-30, 2019
Sweden and more specifically the city of Göteborg will be hosting a European Beach Volleyball Championship (in any age group) for the very first time in history. Göteborg has already cemented its leading role on the European map by hosting a number of NEVZA zonal events and CEV Satellites as well, with a 1-Star event due to take place in April 2019. The city’s Beach Center is the largest Beach Volleyball indoor facility in the world, including hotel, school, outdoor gym and 20 football courts. The Göteborg Beachvolley Club boasts an impressive number of 1,500 members and an incredible 230,000 people of all ages and backgrounds visit the Beach Center every year. The #EuroBeachVolleyU20 will be a truly special opportunity for Sweden’s Beach Volleyball sensation David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig to perform before their home fans. These two young boys are the reigning U18 European champions and the gold medal winners from the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
#EuroBeachVolleyU22 – Antalya (TUR), July 11-14, 2019
The event will be taking place at the Antalya Sports Hall Beach Volleyball Centre, whose construction the Turkish Volleyball Federation and the Antalya Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sport completed in 2017. At the end of October 2018, the very same venue played host to a CEV Beach Volleyball Festival with hundreds of local youngsters. The location is especially good for Beach Volleyball, since the venues lies only a few minutes from one of Turkey’s most popular beaches, Konyaalti Beach, and it is within walking distance for most residents as well easy to reach from Mediterranean University, which is home to some 60,000 students. It is the second time in history that #EuroBeachVolleyU22 takes place in Turkey after Fethiye played host to the 2014 edition of the championship. Moreover, Antalya hosted the 2016 #EuroBeachVolleyU20, even though at a different venue.
