Luxembourg, October 16, 2018. Two additional stops of the 2018 - 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour have been added to the calendar, providing possibilities for athletes to compete all-year round as the 1-Star tournaments will take place in indoor facilities in Norway and Sweden in February and April, respectively.

On February 21-24, 2019 the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour will return to Norway for the first time since 2015 with a men's only 1-Star event. The traditional location for Beach Volleyball events Stavanger also hosted the 2016 CEV Continental Cup Final, but now all eyes will be on the Suldal hall in Sand - the facilities of Toppvolley Norge, the Norwegian Volleyball Federation's National center for the development of young players. The facilities are Norway's first and only specially-built indoor beach hall. The hall was built in 2011 and has a surface area of 680 m2, 12 meters of ceilings and heated sand. An indoor Volleyball hall with fully equipped training conditions is located just next door.

Meanwhile the double-gender 1-Star event set to be held at the Göteborg Beach Centre April 18-21, 2019 will make history in Sweden as it will be the first ever FIVB World Tour event hosted in the Scandinavian country. After the successful organisation of a CEV Satellite earlier this year at the same venue, the indoor facilities have proved to provide the perfect conditions not only for training purposes, but also for holding top-class Beach Volleyball events. The Beach centre boasting 16 heated courts and an additional six outdoors during summertime will gather Beach Volleyball players from around the world over Easter 2019, while a local amateur tournament called Easter Cup will be held alongside.

These are the first CEV Beach Volleyball tournaments confirmed for 2019 with more events to come, as the application process for organisers is still open.

The 2018-19 season began with 1-star tournaments in Siofok, Hungary and Montpellier, France. It continues this week with events in Bandar-e-Anzali, Iran and Las Vegas, USA. The first infoor tournament of the season will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia November 29 - December 2, 2018.

The highlight of the season will be the Hamburg 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships from June 28-July 7, while the best of the U21 age-group will compete at the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships at Samila Beach in Songkhla, Thailand from June 19-23.

The 2018-2019 calendar includes three 5-star Beach Major Series events in Fort Lauderdale (USA), Gstaad (Switzerland) and Vienna, as well as a 5-star event in Rome (TBC). There will also be as many as fourteen 4-star events, seven 3-star events, seven 2-star events, and 21 1-star events across all five continents.

These tournaments are the first steps on the road to qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Athletes and fans will be able to enjoy an early taste of what the Olympics will be like when Japan’s capital hosts a 4-Star tournament from July 24-28.
