Baku, the capital and commercial hub of Azerbaijan, is a low-lying city with coastline along the Caspian Sea. The city is famous for its medieval walled old city, which contains the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, a vast royal complex, and the iconic stone Maiden Tower. Contemporary landmarks include the Zaha Hadid–designed Heydar Aliyev Center, and the Flame Towers, 3 pointed skyscrapers covered with LED screens.
The city hosted the first edition of the inaugural European Games in 2015, an international multi-sport event representing the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the European Olympic Committees with the participation of over 6000 athletes from Europe across 30 disciplines.
The Beach Arena is placed in Azerbaijan`s beautiful coast. This 1,000- seater venue joined some of the most popular facilities in the first European Games in 2015, hosting both Beach Volleyball and beach soccer.
