CL rookies Lokomotiv claim Russian Supercup title

Kaliningrad, Russia, November 18, 2019. CL rookies Lokomotiv KALININGRAD Region started the season by securing the trophy of the Russian Supercup, a competition held annually since 2017, where they beat reigning national champions and national cup titleholders Dinamo MOSCOW.
Only a few days away from their first match in this year’s Champions League, Lokomotiv and Dinamo locked horns on November 16, in the fifth round of the Russian Superleague, with Lokomotiv storming to a 3-0 victory after three closely contested sets (25-22, 26-24, 25-22).
Andrei Voronkov, head coach of Lokomotiv: “We defeated the national champions playing away from home and we did it in three sets. It is important that psychologically we were stronger than the opponent was. We made some mistakes, but they did not break us and we performed very well as a team.”
