It’s all or nothing for the BR Volleys in CEV Cup Challenge Round!
2016 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Berlin, Germany, March 2, 2016. After triumphing in the final of Germany’s national cup last weekend, it is all or nothing for the side of BERLIN Recycling Volleys this Thursday as they play Finland’s VaLePa SASTAMALA in their re-match on schedule for the Challenge Round of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men.
Having lost the away match 3-1, the team from Germany’s capital will need a straight 3-0 or 3-1 home win to call for the golden set and stay in the race for a spot in the semi-finals. “Of course the win of the national cup – after waiting for 16 years! – gave us a lot of confidence, however we are still pretty strained before this CEV Cup match,” team captain Robert Kromm says being aware of the immense importance of the upcoming fight against the Finns. “We know that it’s going be a tough match as we stand with our back against the wall. SASTAMALA claimed their home match as they performed at a really high level,” the outside spiker explains, adding: “It was not the fighting spirit that was missing, the performance of SASTAMALA honestly stunned us. Their defence really gave us a hard time with which we got pretty much exasperated.”
However, the home side wants to bounce back on Thursday against the team of their former teammate Urpo Sivula. “We now have the home advantage on our side – and I do believe that with our fans supporting us, we can put a lot of pressure on SASTAMALA,” Kromm says. “I am confident that we can perform much better on Thursday than we did in Finland two weeks ago. The situation is not easy, but we do have a chance!”
