Darkhorse Partizan Termoelektro BEOGRAD is excited about start of League Round
News from the clubs

Beograd, Serbia, October 17, 2011. Partizan Termoelektro BEOGRAD – one of the rookies joining the CEV Volleyball Champions League for the first time this year – is ready for its debut in the competition which is coming up later this week as Serbia’s champions play Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE in Poland. Right before starting their journey, club President Nenad Golijanin, assistant coach Vladimir Vasovic, captain Nikola Mijailovic and middle blocker Aleksandar Ljubicic attended a press conference in Serbia’s capital city to discuss their goals and feelings with many journalists.
Mr. Golijanin stated that Partizan will be doing its utmost to represent Serbia in the best possible way although the CEV Volleyball Champions League is joined by some of the strongest teams in the world. “We have the privilege to play with the best clubs out there and it is a real pleasure for all of our players to participate in the Champions League. This is something they will remember forever. We do not have very high expectations from this competition but nobody can steal our hope and dreams. We will do our best to play well and be a good host for all visiting teams. With the help of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia we have been working hard to achieve these goals”.

Assistant coach Vasovic added that the players are ready for their debut in this elitist competition. “We have a young, but very good and skilled group and I am sure that the guys will show off their best in this tournament. We know that our opponents are much more experienced, they have budgets that cannot be compared to ours, but this is an additional motivation for us. The CEV Champions League is a good starting point for the national league where the goal is to retain our title from last season” he said.

Captain Nikola Mijailovic feels really honored to defend the colors of his club in this competition: “This is a real privilege to join the Champions League. Partizan has the task to defend Serbia’s colors and honor in Europe this year and this is quite a challenge after our national team claimed gold at the European Championship. Our first opponent, Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE, is a truly amazing team. They are on top of the standings in their national league with no defeats so far, so it will be a pleasure to play such a team. It is also a good opportunity to see where we stand in Europe”.
According to middle blocker Aleksandar Ljubicic, Partizan is a real outsider in Pool C that includes also Spain’s CAI TERUEL and triple World champion TRENTINO PlanetWin365. “Our Pool is tough but I believe that we are capable of claiming at least one game from this round. We are very motivated to play in this competition and although all of our opponents are strong sides, we’ll fight hard to find our place among these giants” he concluded.
