Kranjska Gora ready for a Snow Volleyball show
2018 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour
Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, March 9, 2018. Kranjska Gora will be hosting a good share of Europe’s Snow Volleyball elite this weekend. However, the first ones to test the courts set up in the most popular Slovenian ski resort were more than 150 kids from all over Slovenia. They showed their Volleyball skills and enjoyed the amazing atmosphere and setup of the venue.
As for the European Tour stop starting on Saturday, 21 men’s and 10 women’s teams will be competing, thus representing as many as 15 countries.
“I like the venue in Kranjska Gora a lot and I am excited to play here. Our goal at this tournament is to finish among those teams that will be standing on the podium. We already played against most of the teams competing here this season, but there are some from Switzerland and Austria that we haven’t fought with yet,” Aleyna Vence said after their practice at the venue on Friday. She and partner Bugra Eryildiz claimed top honours from previous stops in Erciyes and Uludag and were the silver medallists in Roccaraso, Italy a few weeks ago as well.
Newly awarded Slovenian favourites Borut Markovic/Mark Maraz - last year’s winners Danijel Pokersnik/Tadej Bozenk have had to withdraw due to injury - are excited to play the role of local matadors in their home country. “I am extremely sorry that Tadej and Danijel won’t be able to play tomorrow. They are our best team and I am sure they would have been very successful. We are proud to represent Slovenia in Kranjska Gora, and although we do not know the opponents, I hope we can still achieve a good result,” Maraz said.
The last opportunity to collect valuable points counting towards the European Tour Ranking is awaiting the players, and with it the final possibility to fight for the last spots at stake to compete at the 2018 CEV Snow Volleyball European Championships in Wagrain-Kleinarl and Flachau, Austria in as early as two weeks’ time.
