Turkish and Russian teams advance to women’s semis at Mt. Uludag
2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour

Bursa/Uludag, Turkey, March 3, 2017. The third stop of the 2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour got underway on Friday at Mt. Uludag in Turkey. The event coincides with the second international Snow Volleyball tournament held on Turkish soil following the successful historic premiere from a couple of weeks ago at Erciyes. The competition at Mt. Uludag features 18 men’s and seven women’s teams – playing throughout the weekend for the top honours that will be at stake on Sunday.

The tournament benefits from excellent conditions and the terrific backdrop provided by Mt. Uludag, which has an elevation of 2,543 m.

As many as 17 matches were played on Friday – with four teams leaving the tournament upon completion of the first competition day. Home stars Aleyna Vence and Nursel Yaren Sencel of Turkey made it to the semi-finals of the women’s competition after two consecutive wins over opponents from Turkey and Russia. Russia’s Ksenia Khakimzanova and Liudmila Dayanova are also through to the semis after beating a team from Georgia first and then the winners of the European Tour stop at Erciyes, Romania’s Adriana-Maria Matei and Beata Vaida (7-11, 11-9, 11-7). The remaining semi-finalists will be determined on Saturday.

The men’s competition has started as well and will continue on Saturday where teams will fight for a spot in the semis.
