News from the National Federations
Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, January 25, 2021. After three days of action, on Sunday the winners of the 2021 Armenian Snow Volleyball national championship could celebrate their achievement at the competition held in Tsaghkadzor. The tournament featured as many as 10 women’s and 12 men’s teams from across the Caucasus country and took place at the very same location that last year hosted a historic stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour.
The championship featured many exciting matches, with Fima-1 claiming the men’s title after edging Fima-3 in the final. Team Fima-2 completed the podium, taking third place.
The women’s semi-finals accounted for an exciting three-setter where Van-1 edged VBet-2 in a closely contested match. Van-1 eventually continued their triumphal march as they beat Avan-1 in the final. After suffering a setback in the semis, VBet-2 lost the bronze medal match as well, with third place going to Team Van-2.
A number of authorities attended the final matches and the subsequent medal ceremony, including the President of the Armenian Student Sports Federation (ARMSSF), Mr Hovhannes Gabrielyan, and the Head of the Department for Greatest Sporting Achievements Policy of the Ministry of Youth and Sport Affairs, Mr Arthur Sedrakyan.
The top three teams received cups, medals, diplomas and other souvenirs prepared by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) specifically for the occasion.
Armenia is the first country to host and deliver a Snow Volleyball national championship this winter. Romania have announced plans to host their domestic championship in early February in the ski resort of Azuga.
