Best Volleyball, Beach Volleyball players and coaches awarded in Slovenia

Ljubljana, Slovenia, December 22, 2020. More than 1,500 fans cast their votes to help determine the winners of the awards for Slovenia’s best Volleyball players in 2020. The votes cast by the fans counted for 50%, with a Council of Experts appointed by the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) contributing the remaining 50% to determine the final standings in each category.
The title of the best male Volleyball player of the year remains in the hands of Klemen Čebulj (pictured above). Jan Kozamernik and Dejan Vinčić finished second and third, respectively. “I am very happy with taking the award for the best Volleyball player of Slovenia for the second year in a row and I am very proud to receive this prize. This is an extra boost of motivation to keep training and it is a reward for working so hard in practice as well. Thanks to everyone who voted for me,” commented Čebulj after the announcement.
Eva Mori has claimed the award for the female player of the year for the first time in her career
The captain of the Slovenian national team Eva Mori won her first best female Volleyball player title. The second place went to last year’s winner Saša Planinšec, with Lana Ščuka completing the top three. “Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me. I am very, very happy and proud that people recognised my efforts and hard work,” said Mori.
Vid Jakopin is the recipient of the newly introduced award for the best Beach Volleyball player of the year
For the first time, the OZS also selected the best Beach Volleyball players of the country. Vid Jakopin topped the men’s charts, ahead of Nejc Zemljak and Tadej Boženk. In the women’s category, Tjaša Kotnik claimed the award in front of Tajda Lovšin and Lana Žužek. Kotnik was obviously happy with the achievement: “It is a great honour to feature in this elite company of star players. However, for me, this award is also a confirmation of all the efforts and hard work I have done in the past, and an enormous motivation for the next year and the upcoming season. I would like to thank everybody who voted for me.”

The Expert Council of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia also chose the best coaches of 2020. Gregor Rozman and Matija Pleško both claimed their second consecutive such award, with Rozman being the best coach of women’s teams and Pleško taking the honours among coaches working with men’s teams.
