CEV launches bidding process for Super Finals 2021

Luxembourg, November 17, 2020. The CEV launched earlier today the bidding process for the organisation of the CEV Champions League Volley 2021 Super Finals – the double-gender event that initiated a true Volleyball revolution in May 2019! The Super Finals will be the first major Volleyball highlight of the year 2021 and any stakeholders – from National Federations to clubs, cities, promoters, etc. – can submit their application to host such a terrific Volleyball party, which is due to take place on May 1.
The 2021 edition of this elite competition started earlier this autumn with the early rounds and it will now continue with a revamped pool stage featuring two round-robin tournaments in each pool to cope with the restrictions still in place in response to the pandemic and to reduce international travels for teams and officials.
“The Volleyball family has already shown much resilience and a strong sense of solidarity in responding to the unprecedented challenges brought by the coronavirus pandemic. Volleyball competitions returned earlier this year in full compliance with strict hygiene and health protocols. We know we are all dealing with a major health crisis but as a sports institution, we have to continue to deliver activities, acknowledging the key role of the sports industry for the European economy as well,” says CEV President Aleksandar Boričić.
Unfortunately, the outbreak of the pandemic imposed the cancellation of the late and most exciting stages of the 2020 Champions League, including the much-anticipated Super Finals due to take place in Berlin.
“Despite the general climate of uncertainty surrounding us, we are hoping to find a partner to deliver such a major event in the spring of 2021. This will help us send a message of hope not only to members of the Volleyball family, but to the whole society as well,” the CEV President continues.
