News from the National Federations

Yerevan, Armenia, July 6, 2020. The third and last of three age-group Beach Volleyball national championships hosted by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia reached its climax on Sunday in Yerevan, after five days of competition featuring 16 men’s and eight women’s teams fighting for the U20 titles.

Teams from the Armenian capital, Yerevan, as well as from other regions of the Caucasus country contested the tournament. Team Avan (Poghosyan/Melkumyan) emerged as the eventual winners of the women’s competition, with Team Geghashen-1 and Team Geghashen-2 completing the podium. Team Avan had previously secured the U19 title last week.

Team CSKA (Asmaryan/Ghasaboghlyan) were the gold medallists of the men’s event, adding yet another accolade to their resume after finishing the U18 and U19 tournaments in second and first place, respectively. Team KhMOMM-1 and Team KhMOMM-2 settled for the second and third place.

The top three teams received medals, cups and other souvenirs prepared by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia.

The Beach Volleyball party at Grand Sports Complex in Yerevan continues now with the ‘senior’ national championships featuring 12 men’s and 10 women’s teams, with the organisers expecting many interesting and exciting matches.
