Israel Association to deliver workshop to improve understanding between coaches and referees
News from the National Federations
Tel Aviv, Israel, May 19, 2020. The Israel Volleyball Association (IVA) continue their extensive work to educate members of the Volleyball family in these times of lockdown and lack of competitive sport. On Wednesday evening, the IVA will deliver yet another workshop via the Zoom platform addressed to coaches and players – with FIVB Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission member Laszlo Herpai (HUN) as the main lecturer.
The goal of this workshop is to start an open dialogue between coaches and referees, in an effort to account for a smoother interaction and communication during matches – especially when the tension rises and the emotions are difficult to control.
The presentation delivered by Mr Herpai will include clear and detailed information regarding rules and situations where discussions have taken place and complaints from the coaches have somehow helped heat a bit the atmosphere. The speaker will provide the attendees with some ‘behind the scenes’ information about the way referees work and prepare as well as about their mental and psychological approach to matches, so as to grow the mutual understanding between coaches and referees.
Sometimes, especially in key moments of a match, the decision-making process is a tough one and not everyone is happy with the outcome of the referees’ actions, but this workshop should help the attendees see things from another perspective.
This workshop continues a string of ‘online classes’ delivered by the Israel Volleyball Association since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, whose programme has included chats with renowned international coaches, fitness sessions and much more.
