Volleyball Ireland launch online camp
News from the National Federations
Dublin, Ireland, April 14, 2020. Many of Ireland’s young players were due to head to Luxembourg by this time of the year to represent their country in the Small Countries Association championship. Whilst the organisers have had to cancel the competition due to the coronavirus pandemic, Volleyball Ireland are looking to fill the void with some Volleyball education with their first online camp. As many as 97 players have already signed up.
Volleyball Ireland are delighted to launch their first online camp. The three-day programme will feature a range of activities including fitness workouts, ball skill challenges and match analysis sessions. The programme will also delve into a range of educational topics around anti-doping awareness, nutrition and creating a positive mind-set. The highlight for many will be the Inspiring Player Series, which will see a top player hosting a Q&A every evening. All workshops will be delivered online through the Zoom platform.
General Manager of Volleyball Ireland, Gary Stewart commented, “VolleyCamp Virtual is a great opportunity for players young and old to get their Volleyball buzz back. There is a great mix of activities suitable for all ages and abilities and I am very proud of our development team for turning it around so quickly.”
Contributors include Isabelle ‘Izzy’ Carey, who is the most successful Beach Volleyball player in American Collegiate history winning over 120 matches for UCLA. National Women’s Team captain Alexandra Graves will join her for a special Q&A.
Speakers include Cody Kessel (USA & Berlin Recycling Volleys), Lauren Soderberg, Australian Olympic coach now with Copenhagen Beach Volley, Vuk Karanovic (CEV Development Manager), Hannah Thornton (Nutrition expert) and Jessie Carmody (Anti-Doping specialist).
