Faroese sports family share dream of Olympic recognition with CEV President
News from the National Federations
Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, February 22, 2020. The Faroese Confederation of Sports and Olympic Committee is working intensively to advocate their wish of Olympic recognition. The discussions have lasted for some 40 years, but the topic has never been as widely discussed as these days.
With the visit of CEV President Aleksandar Boričić to the Faroe Islands, the opportunity was there for the Olympic Committee to present the Faroese case to one of the main confederations and sports within the Olympic family - a family all Faroese sports officials and athletes want to be a part of.
The quest for the Faroese Olympic recognition is one - if successful, that would generate more activities and opportunities for Volleyball players in the Faroe Islands and in other sports as well, with the hope to compete for and represent their nation at the highest level.
President Boričić highlighted that CEV does not want to exclude but rather to include and wishes to promote Volleyball activities in any form and at any level, thus supporting all members of the Volleyball family that are ambitious and show their will and determination to compete.
At the end of their meeting, Mr Boričić presented a special souvenir to the President of the Faroese Sports Association, Mrs Elin Heðinsdóttir Joensen (see picture).
