EuroVolley 2019 breaks all records on French TV
CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men
Luxembourg, February 19, 2020. Even a few months since its completion, the historic EuroVolley 2019 Men does not stop to make the headlines. After a review made by Sponsoring.fr, a leading French sports marketing magazine, it emerged that a record 1.7 million people watched the semi-final match featuring hosts France and eventual gold medal winners Serbia on l’Equipe, thus accounting for a higher audience than for the semi-final between France and Argentina at the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Actually, the audience peaked at 2.1 million at some stages of the truly dramatic match played at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, where ‘Les Bleus’ eventually lost to Serbia at the tiebreak. The result accounts for the highest audience recorded by l’Equipe across all sports, which is testament to the Volleyball-mania that France, like all of the other EuroVolley host countries, experienced this past September.
French Volleyball fans can now look forward to the next major highlight – the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, for which their team qualified back in January after claiming the sole ticket at stake at the Olympic qualifying event held in Berlin.
