Series of Snow Volleyball events in Tsakhkadzor begins with national championship

Tsakhkadzor, Armenia, January 19, 2020. The 2020 edition of the Armenian Snow Volleyball National championship ran from January 16 to 18 in Tsakhkadzor, thus delivering a series of highly entertaining matches as the competition this year featured as many as 12 men’s and eight women’s teams. The event took place at the premises of the State Olympic College in Tsakhkadzor, the resort that later this month will be playing host to a stop of the EEVZA as well as of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour.
Ashot Balabekyan, Razmik Hakobyan, Armen Misaryan, and Yuri Grigoryan – representing FIMA – were the eventual winners of the men’s tournament. Team BKMA – Smbat Gevorgyan, Andre Simoni, Khachatur Asmaryan, and Samvel Ghasaboghlyan – claimed second place, while FIMA-2 – Aram Melkonyan, Hovhannes Asmaryan, Grigori Ambaryan, and Hovhannes Sargsyan – completed the podium. The KhMOMM team did well too, but they had to be content with fourth place.
Anna Galustyan, Nver Kassis, and Elishka Kindolova – aka Van-1 – claimed top honours in the women’s tournament, as they edged their rivals of Van-2 – Syuzanna Khachatryan, Ofelya Matosyan, and Svetlana Margaryan – in the grand finale of the tournament. Diana Melkumyan, Meri Poghosyan, and Sona Hayrapetyan representing Avan finished the competition in third place.
The programme of the last competition day included a short Snow Volleyball festival addressed to tourists currently holidaying in Tsakhkadzor, so that they could try the game and test their skills on the snow as well. The eventual winners of the competition will represent Armenia in the EEVZA Snow Volleyball Tour 2020 event, which is due to take place in Tsakhkadzor on January 29-31, as well as at the first stop of the CEV European Tour at the same venue on February 3-5, 2020.
General Sponsor VBET helped the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) with the delivery of the national championship, where all of the medallists received cups and diplomas in recognition of their performance.
