Refereeing workshop held in Brussels on the eve of EuroVolley Men

Brussels, Belgium, September 13, 2019. With the history-making CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men due to get underway on Friday at Paleis 12 in Brussels, Volley Belgium and more specifically their Refereeing Commission organised a special meeting involving the referees due to officiate at matches in Pool B as well as Belgium’s international referees.
More than 40 Volleyball referees from across Belgium attended the workshop to familiarise with the change of attitude and mentality that the CEV leadership has been encouraging when it comes to Volleyball refereeing – with the President of the European Refereeing Commission (ERC), Mr Luciano Gaspari, discussing the topic with the attendees.
Moreover, the President of the Belgian Refereeing Commission, Arturo Di Giacomo, who is a CEV Referee Delegate as well, emphasised the role and importance of the challenge system in today’s Volleyball environment – and especially when officiating at a competition of the highest level, such as EuroVolley.
The attendees enjoyed the open exchange of views with their ‘senior’ colleagues and they will certainly use these inputs for their future endeavours in the sport.
