TARGOVISTE, BEZIERS and POTSDAM cruise to #CEVCupW 8th Finals
CEV Volleyball Cup 2021 - Women
Luxembourg, November 26, 2020. C.S.M. TARGOVISTE (pictured), BEZIERS Angels and SC POTSDAM all recorded comprehensive 3-0 victories on Wednesday night to claim a spot in the 8th Finals of the women’s CEV Volleyball Cup 2021.
C.S.M. TARGOVISTE had dropped one set two weeks ago when playing at SC ‘Prometey’ KAMYANSKE in the Ukraine but the Romanians were even more dominant at home as they cruised to a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-23, 25-20) to play Mladost ZAGREB of Croatia in the next round of the competition. The three sets were all very close and tight but the hosts were able to emerge victorious each time.
“It was a hard match for us but we played especially good with our counterattack,” said C.S.M. TARGOVISTE head coach Dragan Nesic. “I have to admit that it is very hard to play without any fans, but I hope that we made them at least happy with this result.”
“You could see that our opponents had prepared for this match very well, but we did not give up and stood strong even in the difficult moments; we came back each time and eventually won the game,” said home player Diana-Ioana Calota.
“It was a difficult match for us because we came here without two important players. We made many mistakes, especially in attack, and that cost us the victory,” said KAMYANSKE head coach Ivan Petkov.
“They did not really surprise us because we had watched many videos from their previous matches, but we made too many mistakes and as a result, we lost the match,” said Lora Kitipova of SC ‘Prometey’.
