Luxembourg, September 28, 2020. Today marked the second match day of the Pool D tournament taking place in Austria, as well as the second match of the first tournament for Bulgarian champions, Neftochimik Burgas. After failing to win their debut match against the Austrians from SK Zadruga AICH/DOB, the team coached by Nikolay Jeliazkov was hoping for a win against Russian giants Dinamo Moscow that would keep them firmly in the race for a 2nd Round place.
Despite a solid performance throughout the match, winning a set and being close to winning a second one as well, Neftochimik left the court disappointed and with reduced chances of going into the next round of the CEV Champions League Volley Men.
- The Russian top team Dinamo MOSCOW takes a 3-1 win into their first match after a demanding encounter and a great day for Tsvetan Sokolov, scorer of 23 points and thereby being named MVP of the match.
- Having lost two matches in a row, Neftochimik BURGAS is being highly put under pressure and forced to win all upcoming matches, if they are to maintain any chances to reach the 2nd Round.
- Head Coach, Konstantin Brianskii, Dinamo MOSCOW: “It was a challenging day for us! Neftochimik BURGAS showed much resistance, but luckily we were able to control essential parts of the game and are now looking forward to tomorrow’s match against the Austrians.”
