Luxembourg, February 20, 2020. After the Drawing of Lots held on Thursday at the ‘home of European Volleyball’ in Luxembourg, the top teams in Europe know what their journey looks like as they fight for the right to contest the highly anticipated Super Finals scheduled for May 16, 2020 in Berlin.  

After completion of a truly exciting pool phase earlier this week, the competition will resume on March 3-5 with the first round of quarterfinal matches, with the return fixtures due to follow one week later. The eventual winners will continue their campaign in the semis in late March / early April – where a spot at the majestic event due to take place at the Max-Schmeling-Halle will be at stake.

The men’s quarterfinals feature three teams Italy, two from Poland and Russia as well as Belgium’s Knack ROESELARE, who qualified for the knockout stage of the competition on Wednesday night. The quarterfinal fixtures read as follows:

In a repeat of what happened last year, the women’s competition is a Turkish, Italian, Russian and German affair. As many as three teams from Turkey and Italy have reached the quarterfinals, together with Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia and Allianz MTV STUTTGART of Germany, who have achieved this feat for the second straight year. The competition will continue as follows:

Title-holders Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA and Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA are still in contention to retain the crown they claimed last year at the first historic Super Finals. Lube have two Champions League titles to their name (2002, 2019), while NOVARA celebrated their maiden European triumph last year at the Max-Schmeling-Halle after claiming an all-Italian final with Imoco Volley.
