EEVZA #EuroVolleyU17W qualifier coming up in Tbilisi
News from the Zonal Associations

Tbilisi, Georgia, November 22, 2019. The Georgian Volleyball Federation is ready to host the 2019 edition of the EEVZA U16 Women Volleyball Championship, which counts as EEVZA zonal qualifier for next year’s #EuroVolleyU17W. The local organisers have been working hard in order to prepare this event in the best possible way. All matches will be taking place at the Volleyball Hall named after 1964 Olympic champion Vazha Kacharava. It is not the first time an international competition takes place at the venue; it previously hosted many more tournaments, including CEV European Silver League matches earlier this year.

As many as nine countries – Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine – have registered for participation in this event. All the teams except Azerbaijan have already participated in the EEVZA U16 Championship held last year in Olecko, Poland. The gold medallists of 2018 are Russia, who did not lose a single set in Olecko and are the red-hot favourites this time around as well. They will have their first match with hosts Georgia (pictured above), who, on the other hand, will have one more opportunity to show their skills this year. The eventual winners will qualify for the Final Round of the U17 European Championship due to take place next year in Podgorica, Montenegro.

The organisers are hoping to count on a large crowd at the weekend, with free entrance available as well.
