Romania determined to complete clean sweep of Silver European League titles

Alexandria, Romania, June 29, 2019. The men’s national team of Romania will finish their campaign in the CEV Volleyball European Silver League on June 30, 2019, in Alexandria playing Greece in the grand finale of the competition – a match that is going to be a challenging one for the home side. Earlier this week, Romania claimed a hard-fought 3-2 away victory in the first round of the finals. Romania can complete a clean sweep of the Silver League top honours after their women’s national team routed Slovenia on Friday to secure a first such title for their country.
Laurențiu Lica, captain of Team Romania: “Yes, the victory in Piraeus was important, but the Greek team still remains very strong. For us the second match will be more difficult than the first – it is something like the game against Finland when in Craiova we eventually qualified for the 2019 European Championship. Now our team has more confidence, we have seven wins in a row in the Silver League and our hope is to maintain that perfect record until the end.”
Dănuț Pascu, head coach of Romania: “We have good potential. I trust my team; they worked well in the first match and did not give up even in the difficult moments. The group is more unite and that is an important factor to secure a great victory for Romanian Volleyball. It will be a tough match for us, but we are highly motivated to perform our best also at home, the ‘X Factor’ is to focus on each point and fight until the end for the title.”
Romanian television channel TVR will broadcast the match with Greece, starting from 5:00 pm local time (4:00 pm CET). Fans can follow the final act of the Silver League on EuroVolleyTV as well.
