Slovenia poised to take on Romania in Silver #EuroLeagueW Finals

Ljubljana, Slovenia, June 24, 2019. The organisers expect a full house at the sports hall Center za zdravje in šport in Mislinja where hosts Slovenia will be playing Romania in the first round of the CEV Volleyball European Silver League 2019 Finals. The interest in this matchup has literally mounted after the home team reached the final following an exciting clash versus Greece some 10 days ago. The re-match will follow on Friday, June 28 in Romania, with the eventual winners cashing the coveted ticket to the 2020 edition of the European Golden League.
Both teams lost only one match in the pool phase of the Silver League. Romania had to accept a 2-3 loss at the hands of Israel and these were the only two sets that they have lost in the competition this far. The Slovenians, on the other hand, aim to continue the winning streak they have been enjoying in front of their home fans as they have won all of their home matches this far.
Alessandro Chiappini, head coach of Slovenia: “Romania are definitely a good team with a good style of playing. We have studied their characteristics and we are aware it will be two tough matches. I think our advantage is that we have played in a much harder pool, so we know how to fight through the whole match. I hope we will deliver a solid performance already in the first match. Our team is ready and strongly motivated. I believe we will approach this game with much enthusiasm and a strong wish to show our best. Anyway, this final is atypical, since it consists of two games. It will be very important to start our home match with the right approach to claim an advantage and then we will see what happens in the second leg.”
