Luxembourg, March 20, 2019. The Italian side of Saugella MONZA have given themselves the best possible prospect for next week's return match in the 2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women finals. They won the away match against Turkish AYDIN BBSK 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-17). AYDIN led the second set 8-0 before MONZA started their successful comeback to secure the straight set victory.
AYDIN BBSK (TUR) vs. Saugella MONZA (ITA) 0-3 (15-25, 23-25, 17-25)
- 1,750 spectators came out to the Mimar Sinan Sports Hall to support their team AYDIN BBSK, armed with big drums, trumpets and several other instruments.
- In the first set MONZA had a team attack percentage of 61%, which led the to a comprehensive 25-15 win. The number dropped considerably when they faced a 8-0 deficit in the second set. Through fighting they could come back and manage to overcome the hosts 25-23.
- After that second set blow, AYDIN BBSK were unable to get back on track, and MONZA cruised to victory after sealing a 25-17 win.
- Match top scorers were Rachael Adams from MONZA and Gaila Gonzalez Lopez from AYDIN BBSK with 13 points each.
- The return match will be played at the Candy Arena in Monza on March 27.
