Yamamay quickly take two sets in Mulhouse to secure #CEVCupW semi-final spot
2019 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women

Mulhouse, France, February 14, 2019. Italy’s Yamamay e-work BUSTO ARSIZIO confirmed their status as major force to reckon with in the 2019 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women as they beat ASPTT MULHOUSE VB 3-2 to secure their spot in the semis.

The Italian team comfortably claimed the opening set (25-13) with the help of their Belgian hitter Britt Herbots, who back in 2017-2018 received the MVP award of the French national league while wearing the short of MULHOUSE. Yamamay did the same in the second set too, and after 40 minutes only, the Italians had secured their spot in the semis. Even though the match was ‘gone’, ASPTT MULHOUSE VB fought well in the third set where Anastasia Guerra and Ciara Michel set the tempo for the hosts (13-11, 21-18) before Athina Papafotiou sealed a 25-23 win with an ace.

BUSTO ARSIZIO did not use their best starting six in the fourth set with only Herbots, Alexandra Botezat, Giulia Leonardi and Alessia Orro taking to the court and MULHOUSE took advantage of that to reach the tiebreak (25-20). There, however, Yamamay imposed their rule with Herbots closing the match at 15-13 for the Italians.
