Istanbul, Turkey, April 2, 2017. Galatasaray HDI ISTANBUL hosted one of the favourites of the tournament, Fakel NOVY URENGOY of Russia, in the re-match of the Challenge Cup semi-final after losing 3-0 earlier in the reverse fixture. Despite this time having home advantage, the Turkish team were unable to stop the Russian machine and the travelling side won 3-0 again (25-16, 25-19, 25-21).
After the result from the first match, Galatasaray HDI needed first a 3-0/3-1 victory and then the Golden Set to have a chance to go through to the final. However, the visiting team Fakel NOVY URENGOY excelled in attack, giving no chance to their hosts to make any kind of comeback and wiped the floor, meaning they won all six sets played between the two teams.
Despite all efforts that Galatasaray HDI made, the visiting team showed their advantage in both the technical and physical aspects of Volleyball and marched into the Final scheduled for later this month.
