Azeryol BAKU vie for golden set to make amends for heavy loss to Dinamo
2016 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women

Baku, Azerbaijan, March 11, 2016. There are only four teams still in the race for the final crown of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women and these include also Azerbaijan’s Azeryol BAKU. Azeryol have already made history by making the semis of Europe’s second most prestigious club competition and on Saturday will be trying to make amends for the 3-0 away loss they suffered on Tuesday to 2015 gold medallists Dinamo KRASNODAR.

Azeryol have been working really hard since returning home and their only goal is to win the re-match with Dinamo by 3-0 or 3-1 to go for the golden set. Katerina Zhidkova (pictured, #11), one of the star players on the roster of Azeryol, said: “We very much want to make it to the finals. We did not play our best game in Krasnodar but we are not surrendering, even after such heavy loss. We have discussed and analysed the mistakes we made there and have been trying to fix them. We will be fighting for the victory.”

Her teammate Iuliia Karimova adds: “We have watched the video of our match in Russia and have realised very well where we made our mistakes. We have had little time to prepare for the re-match with only three training sessions but we will be trying to play more balanced and to make fewer mistakes than we did in Russia.”
