High-performance coaching course organised by Luxembourg DC at women’s EuroVolley finals a major success
News from the National Federations

Rotterdam, Netherlands, October 5, 2015. 19 delegates representing nine European National Federations came together from Friday to Sunday in Rotterdam during the final weekend of the 2015 CEV DELA Volleyball European Championship - Women to participate in a high-performance coaching seminar led by the renowned coach Anton Willert Brams.

The seminar focussed on actual match preparation for the semi-finals and final matches, scouting and the multiple aspects which play a key role in pre-game preparation and post-match performance evaluation.

The seminar organised by the FIVB/CEV Development Centre in Luxembourg and supported by both the CEV and the Dutch organising committee of the 2015 women’s EuroVolley was conceived and designed specifically to further grow the quality and consistency of coaching and analysis in European Volleyball.

The seminar opened on Friday afternoon and lasted until the finals on Sunday. The seminar leader Anton Willert Brams joined USA Volleyball in May 2013 to serve as technical coordinator for the US men’s national Volleyball team.

The course was opened on Friday by Mr Burkhard Disch (DC Luxembourg Director). Anton Willert Brams started proceedings by drawing the delegates’ attention to the importance that analysis and interaction have when it comes to professional sport and the necessity to perform at the highest level.

This is especially true under circumstances where high-quality data plays a key role. After the introduction, the participants received an overview of US Volleyball’s organisation, spirit and philosophy, including college Volleyball and the national team.

The seminar continued on Saturday with a morning session devoted to the preparation of the two semi-final matches and the role that technology plays in analysis and game preparation. The participants were divided into groups. Each was tasked with analysing one of the semi-finals and presenting their findings supported by data to the Sunday morning session. The final session on Sunday focussed on the video analysis of the two semi-final matches and how that would influence the preparation for the bronze and gold medal matches.

“The seminar represents another milestone in our efforts to work and expand the FIVB/CEV Development Centre - Luxembourg’s activity to a professional level. We want to become closer to international organisations. Such a great event like the 2015 CEV DELA Volleyball European Championship - Women represents a unique opportunity to develop our activity and to organise high-performance seminars and educational opportunities. The participants were very motivated and the group spirit around the event was amazing. I would like to thank the #EuroVolleyW organisation team for hosting us in Rotterdam, as well as Anton Willert Brams for the support and the organisation of this seminar,” said the FIVB/CEV DC Luxembourg Director, Burkhard Disch.
