The ‘scoring machine’ – Polina Rahimova hits 215 points at Baku 2015 European Games

Baku, Azerbaijan, June 27, 2015. Even though the starting list says ‘opposite’ next to the name of Azerbaijan’s superstar Polina Rahimova, ‘scoring machine’ would probably be more appropriate. She has been just unstoppable at the Baku 2015 European Games where the 25-year old player born in Uzbekistan scored – hold on – 215 points in eight matches!
8 matches, 32 sets, and 215 points. Polina Rahimova has scored a point every fourth minute of action Azerbaijan has played at the Baku 2015 European Games.
Polina Rahimova is the undisputed most prolific player of the Volleyball tournament in Baku – both men and women – by far. Before today’s bronze medal match Rahimova had scored 47 points more than the number two on the top scorers’ list.
Scoring a lot of points is not a new thing for the 198 cm tall Polina Rahimova. When you take a look at her merits since 2008, awards like ‘Best Scorer’, ‘Best Spiker’, and ‘Best Server’ appear again and again.
In today’s bronze medal match against Serbia, Polina Rahimova recorded 31 points. Unfortunately for her and the rest of the Azerbaijani team it was not enough to take home the bronze medals in front of an amazing crowd at Crystal Hall.
