Teams prepare for final stage of Women’s U19 Euro Champs
2014 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship – Women

Tartu, Estonia, August 22, 2014. After successful conclusion of Pool play in Tartu (Estonia) and Tampere (Finland), the teams started their preparations for the decisive phase of the 2014 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship – Women on Friday morning. The much-awaited final stage of the tournament will get underway on Saturday in Tartu’s A. Le Coq Sports Hall in the presence of CEV President André Meyer.

Jury President and CEV Vice President Jan Hronek delivered a positive summary of the first part of the 2014 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship – Women. “The organization committees in Tampere and Tartu did a great job. I would like to thank the Finnish Volleyball Association and Estonian Volleyball Federation for their relentless efforts and exemplary support. I’m looking forward to enjoying excellent finals.”

While the teams take advantage of the rest day for their fine tuning on the court, the CEV officials and international referees enjoyed a boat trip on Tartu’s Emajogi River, organized by the Estonian Volleyball Federation.

The 2014 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship – Women will resume on Saturday morning with the much-awaited 5-8 semifinals. The semifinals 1-4 are scheduled for 16:30 (local time) and 19:00 (local time) when 2012 runner-up Serbia will face title holder Turkey and Slovenia will challenge Greece.

Match schedule for Saturday:

Semifinals 1-4:

16:30 Serbia v Turkey
19:00 Slovenia v Greece

Semifinals 5-8:

11:30 The Czech Republic v Belgium
14:00 Bulgaria v Russia

All semifinal and classification matches are available live and for free at LAOLA1.tv.

One week before the men’s U20 national teams will battle for medals in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Estonia and Finland are in the spot light for the prominent CEV event at Tartu’s A. Le Coq Sports Hall that hosted Pool I and Tampere’s Exhibition and Sports Centre featuring Pool II. A total of 38 matches are played during the tournament, running from August 16-24, 2014.

The Preliminary Phase of the 2014 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship – Women was split into two pools of six teams with the top two from each pool having advanced to the semifinals and the third and fourth ranked teams having made it to the classification matches 5-8.
